Karla Drabble!

I am a very lucky girl this holiday, with not one but two Karla-centric fics being written on my behalf. The first is still being written (and is amazing and beautiful and epic but that's all I'm allowed to say at the moment), but I've gotten the second.

After laughing a lot, I got permission from the lovely [livejournal.com profile] icecoldfrost to post it here to share with everyone!

It was, Lucivar decided, funny. If you weren't Chaosti or Morton.

Both boyos were looking like they'd come out the wrong end of a tussle as they slunk into the room, their psychic scents alternating between hurt, confusion, and anger. And if they were Kindred, he'd be willing to bet uncut Jewels that they would have had their tails between their legs.

"She doesn't make any sense," Chaosti grumbled as he flopped down into a chair, looking surly. "She's not even Blood."

Ah. That explained it.

"Dealing with Emma is easy," Lucivar replied, not even looking up from checking his warblade. "She's a Warlord Prince."

Morton stopped banging his head against the wall long enough to look at the other man. "What?"

"Treat her like you would any Warlord Prince," he repeated. "Think about it. She's got a Killing Edge, if you threaten her people she'll slice off your balls, she completely ignores Protocol if she thinks she's right, and the only one who can get her to stand down is her Queen. Which, unfortunately for the rest of us is Karla, who thinks letting Emma confound people is hilarious."

"But she's a female and - "

"And just got stuffed in the wrong body," Lucivar interrupted dryly. "Don't let her taste for pretty dresses fool you. She's not a Queen, and she hasn't got the instinct or the inclination to care for the land. Her first priority is to protect, although Darkness forbid she ever serve rather than content herself with vexing half the males in the realm. Then we'd all be in trouble."

"Morton's in trouble no matter what," Chaosti muttered, as Morton flushed slightly. "But he's the one that wants to stick his - "

Chaosti didn't get to finish the thought before Morton punched him, and the two started tussling, each one blaming the other for... whatever had annoyed Emma to the point she'd sent them both slinking for cover.

Lucivar just grinned to himself and kept working on his weapons. It would do the boys good to get it out now. It only made it more amusing - for him, at least - since there was a group of very familiar minds heading towards them.

And somehow, he didn't think Cat's presence was going to discourage her companions from amusing themselves with this for weeks.

Thanks a billion, Ahddie. This was both a wonderful surprise and a hilarious read. Happy Holidays to everyone!
