Green and Blue Things

I was given the prompt "Vala + FH + something cracktastic" over my my RL LJ. And this is what my brain came up with...

The flashing lights and crowds of people had first drawn Vala here. Colorful structures that hadn't been here yesterday stretched high into the sky and surrounded her.

"Popcorn! Who wants popcorn?"

"Try your hand, sir, and win a prize for your fair lady? Just two dollars for three balls."

"Step right up, step right up. Come and see Marvello the Magnificent and his miraculous magic!"

Vala turned around in a circle, not knowing where to go first. The rest of the Fandom High students were certainly out in force tonight.

She spotted Jake and Krycek about to head towards something called 'The Tunnel of Love'.

Kawalsky was taking advantage of his military training as he easily shot down the required targets on the shooting stall. Not for the first time, Vala saw, when the stall owner handed a large cuddly toy to Kawalsky with a more than slightly strained smile. Kawalsky grinned at the small group with him, and offered the stuffed bunny to Janet. Vala couldn't see the other girl after that.

Jaye was standing a bit away, apparently talking – or, more like arguing – with her purse. Vala watched as Jaye apparently lost said argument with the inanimate object, and scowling, strolled past what looked like a large thermometer with a bell attached to the top of it. Vala couldn't tear her eyes away as she saw Jaye slip, or trip, on something and fall onto the base of the structure. The bell rang.

Looking around for one of the games to try, Vala spotted a row of machines across at the side. The backs of two figures standing there were easily recognizable as Angel and Callisto.

"Come on, Angel. That's it. Just there." She heard Callisto's encouragement as she neared, and raised her eyebrows.

Getting closer, she saw that Angel had been using controls on the outside of the box to control a shiny metal claw into picking up something red.

"Thanks, Angel," Callisto beamed, holding the red thing. "I can't believe that they have Mountie dolls in here!"

Angel smirked. "Well, they were coming to Fandom," he said. He slipped an arm around her. "Now, how about you say things like that to me elsewhere?"

Vala turned her attention to the box next to the one full of Mountie dolls. There were only a few things in this one, and they were all green and blue. Vala dug in her pocket for a quarter, and pressed the 'start' button. Her tongue sticking out in concentration, she carefully maneuvered the crane over one of the objects and hit the 'grab' button.

She squealed with delight as the crane closed around the small thing and actually bounced up and down slightly as she watched a whole string of the green and blue prizes come with it. Hah! Angel only got one Mountie doll!

She'd apparently got all the green and blue things, because the only things left were now much more subdued colors, in dark grey and purple.

Vala scooped up her prizes gleefully, and placed all but one in her bag. She held the last one in front of her, and looked at it critically. It was what some Earth person believed to be an alien. A little green alien with three eyes and a tentacle coming out from his head, dressed in a blue jumpsuit. She guessed it was kind of cute.

Shrugging, she added it to her bag with the others and decided to go and find out if cotton candy was either fabric or something she ate. Hopefully it was going to be the latter, although clothes did have their merits.

"You have saved our lives. We are eternally grateful."

The voices were united, and in a sort of high and squeaky monotone. Vala paused, and looked around her warily. No one was close.

She eyed her bag suspiciously for a moment, and then shook her head.

Left in the box, Evil Emperor Zurg shook his clenched fist. He vowed to seek revenge on the giant with blonde streaks.
